  1. Foreign citizens temporarily staying in the Republic of Kazakhstan are required to have passports registered in the manner established by these Rules, and present them at the request of authorized state bodies;

  2. Foreign citizens temporarily staying in the Republic of Kazakhstan are required to register within 5 calendar days from the date of crossing the State border of the Republic of Kazakhstan at the place of their permanent or temporary residence. Registration of foreign citizens is carried out according to identity documents;

  3. The procedure for registering passports of foreign citizens in the Republic of Kazakhstan is determined by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan in coordination with the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

  4. Registration is issued for a period not exceeding the validity period of the national passport of a foreign citizen and visa;

  5. Registration of citizens arriving in the Republic of Kazakhstan from countries with which the Republic of Kazakhstan has international agreements on visa-free entry and stay is carried out for a period not exceeding ninety days, and may be further extended for the same period;

  6. Registration of foreign citizens, who have duly executed work permit to attract foreign labor, is issued for the duration of this permit;

All foreign citizens arriving on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan are registered for a period of up to 1 month with the right to renew for a similar period. Citizens of the Customs Union of Russia and Belarus are registered for a period of up to 90 days with the right to renew for another similar period.

For registration, foreign citizens must should provide:

  • A passport;
  • Migration card (issued when crossing the border of the Republic of Kazakhstan);
  • Valid visa of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the passport;
  • Temporary residence address;
  • Violation of the terms of stay and delivery of a passport after 5 days after entry entails an administrative fine
